10th CNAG virtual symposium on genome research: de novo sequencing and assembly for biogenome projects

Jun 7, 2021 | Events

Date: 7th June, 2021
Time: from 10 am to 13:30 pm
Place: Virtual
Organizer: Centre Nacional d’Anàlisi Genòmica (CNAG-CRG), in colaboration with the Catalan Initiative for the Earth BioGenome Project (CBP) and the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA).

Biodiversity is shrinking every day as a consequence of human activity. Increasing our knowledge about the species living on Earth will allow to promote sustainable development as well as to protect biodiversity.

The Earth BioGenome Project, a network of the major national and taxonomic initiatives, aims to sequence, catalog and characterize the genomes of all of Earth’s eukaryotic species. The process requires a collaboration of conservation organizations, research centres, sequencing facilities, and computational groups. Results will help to advance fundamental questions and needs in science, conservation and public health.

In this meeting we will virtually bring together scientists working in de novo sequencing and assembly of genomes of eukaryotic species who will present their latest research discoveries and ideas on the topic.
