Second call for grants for biogenome research (biodiversity genome)

Sep 18, 2023 | Calls

The IEC, in accordance with its purpose of contributing to the coordination, carrying out and dissemination of research, promotes knowledge of the biodiversity of our environment through a call – the second – to sequence the genome of eukaryotic species in Catalan language and culture territories. This research, which has been possible thanks to the support of the Department of Research and Universities, is promoted by the Catalan Initiative for the Earth Biogenome Project (CBP) within the Catalan Society of Biology (SCB) and the Institution Catalan of Natural History (ICHN).

The call (in Catalan) is intended to finance projects aimed at sequencing the genomes of a broad taxonomic range of eukaryotic species, including collecting samples, extracting their DNA and corresponding sequencing, assembly and annotation.

The budget for this call is 250,000 euros. Proposals of up to 100,000 euros are accepted as long as they are feasible to carry out within one year from the date the grant is awarded. The deadline for submitting applications and documentation ends at 12 noon on October 13, 2023. The resolution and award of the grant will be made within a maximum period of one month from the deadline for submission of requests.
